Three Indian army jawans and two J&K police officers were martyred in an open-ended encounter in Kupwara’s Halmatpora on Wednesday where they killed five assailants.
The gunfight began when terrorists fired at the joint party of Army and Special Operation Group (SOG), of Jammu & Kashmir police said army spokesperson Col Ranjeet Singh (Srinagar).
The campaigning was assisted by the Army’s Para-Commandos.
A police officer said that SOG and Army’s 41 Rastriya Rifles headed the operation after pursuing the information about the migration of seven militants in the area.
According to the words of Director General of police S.P Vaid” on Wednesday noon, three bodies of the terrorist were restored, at the encounter site of kupwara, deceased bodies of fourth militants had also spotted.
The firing on goes till late Wednesday evening.
At late evening, a spoke man from Srinagar accepted that a fifth militant was nullified at the battlefield. All assassinated militants, according to the police, were immigrant and part of some inviolate group.
Damning records have also been captured from the slain terrorist said police officials. The cadavers recovered were impoverished with ammunition and weapons, including active grenades, he added.
On Tuesday, four anonymous bellicose were killed in an ongoing campaign in kupwara district of north Kashmir. The firing started in the afternoon at around 2:45 pm in the woods of Halmatpora, Arampora village of Kupwara, is one of the major routes for infiltration.
The cold military personnel was identified as a member of 160 battalions of the Territorial Army named Naik Ranjeet Singh and Mohammad Ashraf Rathor and two personnel of special police force, Mohammad Yousuf Cheche and policeman Deepak Jhesoo. The third deceased body of army jawan was yet not identified.
Kupwara is above 110 km towards the north of district Srinagar and is a borderline which is adjacent to the Line of Control.
